GOING GREEN

 

The Urban Land Institute San Diego/Tijuana District Council and the county of San Diego are hosting the "Growing Green, Growing Healthy: Planning Solutions for Healthy Communities, Development and Climate Change" symposium on Sept. 9 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the McMillin Event Center at Liberty Station, 2875 Dewey St., San Diego. The symposium will explore ways to create better communities and transportation systems.

Ffeatured speakers include county Supervisor Ron Roberts; Richard Jackson, former public health officer for California; Richard Mitchell, director of planning and building for the city of Richmond; R. Gregg Albright, deputy director of Caltrans; and Gary Cook, California director of Local Governments for Sustainability; Michael Stepner, professor at the NewSchool of Architecture & Design and urban designer; and moderator Stantec Architecture.
