District Council Update

Summer has been a busy and exciting time for ULI San Diego/Tijuana. We held several great events in June and July, and we are looking ahead to this month's launch of our Technical Advisory Panels (TAPs) and ULI @ Lunch, an ongoing seminar series to facilitate deeper discussion and training on a myriad of real estate topics. Thank you to everyone who attended the Smart Growth Awards on July 12 -- an overwhelming success that continues to get better each year. Special kudos to Chris Morrow, Mary Lydon and the entire Smart Growth Awards Committee for their efforts in putting together an outstanding event and helping us to recognize the merit of several exceptional projects. We also posted photos from the membership event at DiamondView Tower on June 6 where almost 100 of us enjoyed a bird's eye view of the Padres v. Dodgers.

I am very excited to announce that executive director Mary Lydon and I will be contributing a monthly column to the San Diego Daily Transcript on sustainability in the San Diego region. It's a continuation of a Daily Transcript column "Building for Sustainability" begun in 2005 by Mary and NewSchool of Architecture and Design professor Mike Stepner. Over the next few months, this column will present ideas, people, movements and projects that are making contributions to sustainability.
