Young Leaders | Event Recap July 10, 2007: San Diego Mayor Sanders stopped by the ULI breakfast meeting at the University Club to discuss a multitude of housing and commercial real estate issues affecting the city and the region. He was joined by Jim Barwick, the director of real estate for the City of San Diego, and Jim Waring, the city's deputy chief operating officer for land use and economic development. The trio discussed future ideas for utilizing green building practices, updating the community plans and the city's own real estate holdings that include 120 acres of land, 34 parcels and the 650 ground leases that could generate up to $70 million in revenue next year. They said some of the properties are being considered for affordable housing and approximately 17 of them will soon go on the market.
