RECAP: Nov. 6, 2007 | Young Leader's Event - Launching Your Career

Over 150 people convened at USD's Peace and Justice Institute for the ULI Young Leader's final Partnership Forum of the year. The panel of local experts, which included Gary London, Stath Karras, Ian Gill, Elizabeth Bluhm and  Sherm Harmer spoke about the state of the market, where the industry is headed in the next couple of years and what the opportunities will be for employment and real estate development.

ULI San Diego Young Leaders hosted a number of Partnership Forums, Project Tours and Panel Discussions last  year, with many more planned in 2008. Highlights from the 2007 Partnership Forums include:

• An educational Downtown Walking Tour
• The intricacies of the Navy Broadway Complex from Manchester Financial Group representatives.

Panel Discussions:

• Community Facilities Districts (CFD) and Mello Roos financing for projects
• Meeting with executives of Lennar, CityMark and Olson to discuss entitlement process and financial projections
• Meeting with Mark Fabiani and learning about the Chargers' search for a new stadium
• How to finance affordable housing projects and make them work
• Financial Forum - state of the capital markets with representatives from Countrywide and Fident Capital
• Trammel Crow and CityMark discussed getting a real estate company off the ground with sound business plans and capital.

The ULI Young Leaders Group provides great opportunities for young industry professionals to network, gather industry knowledge and develop their leadership skills. With over 350 members, Young Leaders offers several events throughout the year including networking socials and roundtable forums where small groups of Young Leaders are teamed with a real estate industry leader.
